Maize and winter wheat in monocultures and rotation

Local identifier
R4-0009
Years operational
2010—
Objective
To investigate the importance of weather on crop production depending on if winter wheat or maize is grown with break crops or not and if ploughing or non-inversion tillage is used.
Description
This studies the effect on crop production depending on if the system is planned for long summer or mild winters, i.e. long season summer crops or winter annual crops and on if the crops are cultivated as monoculture or with break crops as well as the effect of tillage or no tillage.

Randomized complete block design
Description
Size of treated plot (length × width and area) 20 m × 21 = 420 m²
Design description
1-factorial randomized complete block design with four complete blocks. Eight crop sequences in main plots. Winter wheat and maize in monocultures, winter wheat/maize with break crop, sustainable crop sequence and permanent ley. Winter wheat/maize is present every year where they are grown with break crops.
